LOCF: Conservation Program Management Intensive (Summer 2026)
The UH Office of Land and Ocean Conservation Futures (LOCF) is pleased to announce its second offering of NREM 691 Conservation Program Management Intensive for Summer 2026. Registration is now open and closes on March 14, 2026.
What:
An intensive in-person two week course for working conservation professionals and University of Hawaiʻi System graduate students comprising modules designed to expose, inspire, prepare, and train future conservation program managers in various fields of conservation. The course is organized into four primary focal areas: place-based learning (ʻāina-based learning, community engagement), technical skills (administrative procedure, environmental law, strategic planning, project management), administration (budgeting, grant proposals, grants management basics, human resource management), professional development (communication, leadership training, facilitation, public meeting management).

Director Suzanne Case and Linden Schneider from LOCF, and many guest speakers who are leaders in conservation
Where:
UH Mānoa classroom, plus various off-site learning field trips on O’ahu
When:
In-person: July 27th – August 7th, 2026, Monday – Friday, 8:30 AM – 4:30 PM HST
Remote asynchronous (on your own project completion time): August 10th – 14th, 2026
Tuition:
1,300 for UH graduate students, 2 credits; $1,000 for non-UH students, no-credit; plus administrative fee.
Applicants will be notified no later than March 31st of their application status.
