Feb 23, 2021

In 2020, Kristin Bacon was re-certified for the CIP via a rigorous examination. Kristin has maintained the CIP credential for 10 years. The CIP program is a certification initiative in the United States for individuals administering and overseeing IRBs. The CIP was developed by Public Responsibility in Medicine and Research (PRIM&R) in 1999 to promotes the ethical conduct of research by strengthening the administration of Human Research Protection Programs (HRPPs); validating an individual’s professional experience and mastery of the body of knowledge determined by national experts to be essential to competent HRPP and IRB administrative practices; encouraging personal growth and professional development; and strengthening the quality of HRPPs by certifying a cadre of committed and educated individuals. The CIP is endorsed by federal regulatory officials, professional associations, and national advisory boards and IRB professionals who are committed to improving the quality of human research protection programs. At present, there are more than 3,000 professionals authorized to use the CIP designation, with two current CIPs in Hawai‘i including Kristin. Congratulations Kristin!
