Stem Cell Biology & Translational Medicine
OTTED had the first of the “From Discoveries to Commercialization” series, co-sponsored by GE Healthcare Life Sciences on August 5, 2015. The theme was Stem Cell Biology and Translational Medicine. In the morning session, Dr. Hiromitsu Nakauchi, a professor of Stanford University and renowned stem cell biologist, and Dr. Norio Nakatsuji, a professor of Kyoto University and founder of ReproCELL, discussed potential applications of stem cells in medical therapies and commercialization potential of stem cell research. At the afternoon’s tech transfer forum, four University of Hawai`i researchers presented their research and had an open discussion on potential commercialization plans. The event was well received. Any additional feedback can be emailed to otted@hawaii.edu.
