Current Projects

Medicare Physician Reimbursement for Hawaiʻi

Analyzing Medicare payment formulas and policies for Hawaiʻi to determine needs for better alignment with the unique needs of our State.

Healthcare Workforce Shortages

Identifying and addressing policy issues to highlight the need for better resources to support healthcare workforce recruitment and retention, including analyzing Health Professional Shortage Area (HPSA) designations.

Geographic Impacts

Conducting economic and cohort research to identify how the unique geography and demographics of Hawaiʻi impact healthcare access by working with the UH Economic Research Organization (UHERO).

Transportation & Travel Impact on Health

Identifying transportation barriers and needs to healthcare service access for rural and remote communities of Hawaiʻi, particularly for maternal/fetal care.

GET Exemption for Medical Services

Developed a policy brief which provided background and education on General Excise Tax (GET) Exemption for Medical Services
